Industry Outlook and Market Opportunity

Tamarack Energy has focused on biomass-derived electric power generation as a successful strategy to address the rapidly expanding market for renewable energy. This focus reflects the market opportunities associated with renewable energy generated using biomass including:

 

• Access to the market for Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) compliance.  To date, RPS requirements have been adopted by 32 states, including NY, MA, CT, RI, NH, and ME. These standards will require approximately $14 billion in investments in renewable energy in New England and New York.

 

• Ability to generate base load, dispatchable electricity from a renewable resource.  Most other types of renewable energy are dependant upon intermittent natural resources (i.e. wind or sunlight) to generate electricity.

 

• Use of widely available and cost stable feedstocks that would otherwise be treated as waste products.
